Drakon! Beware, the hungry Drakon has discovered you and the other adventurers trying to steal her gold! She's only going to allow one of you to survive....
This game is a Fantasy themed tile-laying game that finds you trying to gather 10 gold pieces in order to escape the dungeon and avoid being Drakon's lunch.
The Good: The game pieces and components are top notch. Very high quality. The instructions are simple and clear. Game plays quickly (less than an hour ) and has tension when the Drakon begins chasing players in the dungeon. Whole family can quickly grasp the game and play.
The Bad: Nothing bad going on here component wise. Game-play wise, we did have a game where my wife managed to win before Drakon woke up. We played again! Not a problem because the games are fairly short.
The game is unique. It may attract or deter potential players based on the theme. Some may envision a Dungeon and Dragons level game with complex rule sets and long playing times, this is NOT that kind of game. This is a quick, rules-light game families can enjoy together. But don't be mistaken, there is depth to it to provide adults with "thinky" choices. My family enjoys this game and requests we play it anytime we pull out the board games. Usually we follow up with a grown-ups only game after the kiddies go to bed and they have all been real fun times.
If you dislike the theme, I suggest you give it a go...it's fun and the theme does not require you to refer to Spells, Wizards, charts or lotsa dice.
If you really want to play an RPG, well maybe you could play this to warm up or wind down from the big event...it's pretty quick.
