This cartridge is very easy to set up and align, thanks to its conical stylus and the threaded inserts in the cartridge body. It has a good, clear, balanced sound that gives satisfying bass, mid range and treble performance. Like most phono cartridges, its sound improves after about 30 hours of use. However, this cartridge was acceptable from the very first play and has never sounded harsh or sibilant, (to my ears anyway). Its satisfying sound is very reminiscent of the original Audio Technica AT95E, on which it appears to be based. I like the fact that it can be upgraded with any of the stylus types from the entire AT- VM95 range, because it gives the cartridge great upgrade potential. In terms of musical sound output, I think that this cartridge gives a performance way better than most people would expect for £29. When you factor in its other plus points, it is obvious that this cartridge is an absolute bargain. I highly recommend it.Read full review

Cartridge is very easy to fit due to the threaded inserts already mounted in the cartridge, no small nuts to sort just a straight on an tighten. This makes the cartridge very easy to align on the protractor. It tracks at 2.0 gms. So far the cartridge sounds good, but as only used for 2 hours it has not had time to open up and so it’s difficult to rate for sound. It does not sound as good as my AT91 but that has many hours use so is probably opened up. As said fitting is very easy as is alignment, so I will re-review this after a proper run in period. However my AT91 sounded good straight out of the box and has improved with time, it was better when new than the VM95C. It will be easy to upgrade as stylus models are interchangeable with this body, I don’t personally like the AT95E I prefer the AT91 it has been a brilliant match on my Sansui turntable, must just be a good match it beats all others I have tried, even the Rega Carbon which is based on the AT 91. Have it 5 Stars for the fit, but not the sound as yet as it needs more time to play inRead full review

Purchased to play my older albums rather than using my Shure V15 IV. The cartridge tracks well at 2gm giving a nice warm reproduction of vinyl. Best of all you can choose to purchase one of 5 other styli that fit the base cartridge body. You can upgrade to a Shibata stylus for around £150. Great idea!!

Adjust the tracking force to less than 2g would improve the high frequency response and dynamic. For anyone who feel the sound of this stylus dull, try to adjust the tracking force between 1.85-1.95g. You will be surprised.

Simple to align, and sounds way better than a £30 cartridge has any right to. A fantastic match for my Linn LVX arm, and more timbral details than the old AT91 which itself is a great cart. Highly recommended.
