This is a searing and frank depiction of an affair and its awful consequences which is also trying to say something bigger about Thatcher's Britain and the emptiness of aspirational new town life for people uprooted from their communities and displaced to the "future". The former for me worked much better than the latter and Maggie O'Neill flares like phosphorus.

I saw this series when it first aired, it is as engaging now as it was originally, good casting, good acting and believable story line. Shame we lost Keith Barron.

One of the best miniseries ever (along with "To serve them all my days"......both products of the 1980's).
