Garmin 1030 is a nice step up from the Garmin 1000
I've had quite a few Garmin bike computers. This is clearly the best. PROS: 1) Large screen 2) Easy to add/change screens and number of items on a screen 3) easy to add multiple bikes 4) can even tell you WHEN to drink! 5) well constructed and good quality 6) Seems to hold charges longer than previous models. 7) I LOVE the graph options for Heart Rate, Speed, and Cadence. CONS: Although I generally like the options, it can be complicated to find certain certain options. For example my Garmin 1000 has an option on a power meter to show L/R leg percent. I cannot find that on the 1030 which is disappointing. I like this measurement to show when I'm not using both legs equally. 2) The cover on the charge port works fine so far. I would have preferred a rubber cover, however, instead of a hard plastic. I am concerned it may break over time.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Garmin Edge 1030
This is my first true bike computer since my smartphone apps. It is far better following the computer verus a phone. It took a while to set up what I wanted to display but once accomplished, I enjoy the info while riding. I mtb, I don't follow a navigation plans, but it does show all the criss crossing trails. I wish it came with a mtb attachment. The out front is not safe on mtb, but the band attachments would be good if I didn't have a tapered handlebar or like the off entered look. I did have to order several different models before getting the one I liked. Garmin mtb mount is too expensive for what it is. I do recommend the computer itself in the bundle for the 3 sensors, but they should offer a road & mtb bundle.

Garmin Edge 1030 could be much better
Is this the bike computer of your dreams? No, there is so much about it that could be improved upon. It is too hard moving from screen to screen and to set up the order you want the screens in. It does have a lot of nice features but getting to those features to work isn't so easy, For the price of this unit I expected more and expected it to be easier to operate. Another issue I had was getting the USB port to be recognized by my computer, that was a nightmare.
