Great Tow Ball Bike Carrier
We looked at lots of similar tow ball mounting bike carriers. There are so many to choose from. There was one excellent one (manufactured in Holland?) Which came in a carry case, fitted over the tow ball and folded down from the middle like the reverse of folding up a camping chair. If money was no object we would have gone for that one. The Thule 941 is not cheap but you get what you pay for. Also we have faith in the quality of Thule products - we have had a Thule roof box for years. We found that it was relatively easy to put together by following the visual instructions - also 2 heads are better than one! The 941 is certainly well put together and very robust. We changed car recently (from a 2000 model to a 2007 model Skoda Octavia estate) and had to have a tow ball fitted so it has all been rather expensive. We've not yet tried it on a trip but we are extremely happy so far. Oh! We could make the same comment as other reviewers and that is that locking securing nuts should really be supplied with it. A carrier for road bikes?
This carrier is for lighter road bikes and children's shorter wheelbase bicycles. The design flaw is that the central hoop is free to flop about and loading a bicycle requires three hands and arms. I modified my 9502 carrier to keep the central hoop vertical making loading easy. The wheel base cups do not extend enough to accommodate a wider wheelbase for mountain bikes. The big advantage of this carrier is that it is light and easier to carry and lift as compared to my much heavier and 'built in a shipyard' Thule carrier. The caveat is, this is for lighter bikes, 11kgm each. It would have been a 4 Star rating but for the central unsupported hoop.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Does the job well
Bought this to take two bikes on a 3000 mile trip around Europe. Easy to fix to tow bar, easy to load bikes on and off. Secure transit of bikes at all speeds and road conditions. May need to re-tighten some fixings occasionally due to effects of vibration, but if you are aware and take minimal tools, this is no big problem. Easy to fit and mount bikes
Took about half an hour to assemble from new, fairly straightforward. Appears good quality and sturdy. In standard form it locks to the tow hitch but I have yet to research the availability of locks to lock bikes to the rack.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

At first thought when un packing I thought it was a kids bike rack as the two frames are quite small but after assembling it and trying the bike on (which is DH bike) I was quite shocked an how such a small thing held the bike so well.
