The D750 was the camera of choice for many wedding professionals but it was getting a bit dated. Mirrorless cameras were becoming the norm but after trying the Sony A7 iii I was disappointed with the speed of the camera and focusing as I’m renowned for my natural moment grabbing shots. With the advent of the D780 you have a camera that is better in low light, faster to focus, has great video and a super fast silent mirrorless feel. The camera seems to be a mix of SLR and mirrorless features and provides the best of both worlds.

While mirror-less is more compact, SLR gives wider and less expensive choice of lenses. Manual focus is also easier with the view-finder. Unlike the Z series, you can let it power on all the time without worrying fast run off of battery power, thus quick to respond to a shooting opportunity. I like the body design having more function buttons than the Z series and therefore less need to go to the screen control. The D780 also gives me similar live view functions of the Z series. Thus now I pick this camera more than the Z6 I already owned -- the latter becomes my B camera. (Of course, if you need to shoot video and rely very much on vibration stabilization, the Z series is a much better choice.)
