This film is about actual paraplegics and their struggles to maintain a decent quality of life through their determination in their sport of Murderball. A sobering reflection on a life, lived by the men and their families, that few of us are even aware of.
Often hidden from the able bodied members of society, this docu film follows the life and activity of wheel chair users, who, after finding themselves confined to wheel chairs through several assorted injuries and birth defects. These young guys try to deal with their life and live as "normal" a life as possible, taking on a new sport of Wheel Chair Rugby. Playing for there country, the USA and Canada they play thos hard hitting game to the max. Some of them explain how after being stuck un a wheel chair, they actually do more with their life than they did when they were able bodied. This is a fantastic no holds barred look at there achievements, their loves , and there fights. No "soft pussies" here, they are a great bunch of guys, and i wish i had there balls!! they are a great team of lads who's life has been torn apart, but yet they live on with their life to the utimate MAX. A totally brilliant film to watch, ok, there is a bit of foul language etc but hey! thats life, please ohh please dont miss this film, i recommend it to all viewrs, the next time you have a pain or ache and you are about to complain to your family members, watch this film first and you will realise what a wimp you are, infact what wimps we all are!! These guys rock and i take my hat off to them, so much so, i have arranged to go a meet the USA team in person!Read full review
I had heard about this film and how good it is, and I can only repeat that sentiment. It's definitely worth watching at least once, although it's a shame there isn't more on how the stars with neck injuries cope with day-to-day living. I have to admit the editing leaves a rather unsatisfactory movie, in that there isn't a significant length of quad rugby to get into and enjoy, and what we do see is jump-cuts. The introduction of Keith (I think) who is in hospital recovering from a MotoX accident is the uplifting part, and how he catches the Murderball bug is terrific. Would have liked more about his physio, etc, but that's not what the director set out to portray. The dvd is cheap to buy, and if you don't like it you can always sell it on.
An amazing film. Really good fun to watch and insperational! IF you're dealing with an adverse life event then watch this film, it'll make you think to yourself 'suck it up, and get on with it!!!' If you're not then watch it anyway as it has drama, action and a good plot line.
