I can now understand why MGM/Golan-Globus never distributed "Appointment with Death" here in the States. The fact that it was only available in the European "PAL" format should've warned me that the acting was way below par! I bought this DVD because of the other Agatha Christie DVDs that Peter Ustinov appeared in. But if there was anyone on that cast that carried the movie it was Piper Laurie. Though the acting on these other DVD's wasn't stellar, at least their casts more than made up for it. Peter Ustinov was up to his decent level of comedic acting but Lauren Bacall was atrocious. Carrie Fisher flitted in and out of her range as an actress, John Gielgud just barely made a showing and not up to his standard. Hayley Mills didn't push herself enough in her silly role, and David Soul was his usual TV/soap-opera persona. The other actors were just barely amateurish.Read full review

I watched this film years ago and wanted to see it again I like agatha Christie films as it gets you guessing till the end. I thought the film was good it had some american cast and british cast and I thought rhey did really well. also great old names like Luaren Bacall who has done an agatha christie movie before. The Dallogue was excellent and the way the film is done in the shots and getting the watcher to join in to find the killer and getting the suspects together at the end. I don't think there is anything I disliked about the film so in all if you like watching films that you can guess who has done it then this is the one and other like them..
