Liar Liar was made at the height of Jim Carrey's fame in the 90's. He had just come off his detour in experimental Dark comedy with The Cable Guy that flopped with audiences. This movie in which he plays a lawyer whose disappointed son makes a wish that his dad can't lie for 24 hours is Carrey at his finest. The movie is always in high gear when he is on-screen. The storyline is generically paper thin but Carrey takes it to another level with his improvisation. Regular Director Tom Shadyac who did the Ace Ventura movies with Carrey knows who his audience is and let's Carrey fly loose for 80+ minutes without overstaying it's welcome. Shout Factory has done a tremendous job with the new 2k scan making the picture look pristine like it was filmed yesterday and not 25 years ago. For this 25th anniversary in addition to the previous Blu-ray extras from Universal release they have added 2 new video conference interviews (made during Covid Lockdowns) that provides a fascinating look at the movie from the Writers and Co Stars. Shout has provided reversible Sleeve artwork and I like how they also put artwork on their discs and generally some studios just put out Vanilla discs. This is a Region A locked so you will need a Multiregion Blu-ray player. But otherwise highly recommended.
