  • Buy this book!

I feel strongly that this product rating was created for people buying a toaster or a couch...It's Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, written by Jhonen Vasquez, the same awesome person who created the heart warming cartoon, Invader Zim. I discovered this 15 years ago, in high school. It's about a young deer's adventure in the forest- , oh wait no, that's Bambi. This actually has nothing to do with deer. Its about a homicidal maniac named Nny, ...aaand HIS bloody adventures as he deals with inner turmoil and other dark topics. Jhonen jokes about not having a plot, but there was one I could follow. I won't give it away, but he talks about Nny repainting his wall with fresh blood a lot. I love the art style of this creative man. If you're into dark humor, Invader Zim, and Beetlejuice, this graphic novel is probably your thing. Would I recommend this? Yes. I keep mine in the kitchen next to the fridge, just in case I want to read Happy Noodle Boy while I make a sandwich.

  • Weird?

So this was recommended to me, when I mentioned how much I enjoy the Invader Zim comic, since it's by the same artist. It's, well it's weird. The beginning is mostly pointless cartoony gore/violence for shock value I guess. About halfway through, it seems the artist stumbled upon a plot, and things start getting interesting. I was into it by the end, but I'm not sure I see what people see in it. I suppose my only real complaint is that the text is difficult to read. I think I may have enjoyed it more of I hadn't spent so long trying to decipher the text.

Classic Jhonen. I’ve always loved this series. I love the dark humor and unconventional subject matter. Definitely recommend.
