An amazing cd to add to my collection
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
One that will keep Martyn Joseph fans happy, but people who I've played the album to,who aren't fans, have found his style a little melancholic. This isn't unusual for Martyn's albums and sometimes I feel that when he puts a lot more drive into his songs he is more accessible "This Being Woman" or "Liberal Backslider" from previous cds being prime examples. "Deep Blue" is in fairness another good cd."Can't Breathe" could be a hit single,in the current climate of Athlete/Coldplay being so popular this could storm the charts. "Six Sixty Six" has a little bit of Peter Case or maybe even Pogues influence creeping in. The rest of the cd is standard Martyn Joseph fayre, which isn't a criticism, but if you aren't a fan try to snatch a listen to some of his music, from the 90's onwards, over the internet or from a friend before purchasing. Martyn Joseph is touring with Show Of Hands (Phil Beer & Steve Knightley) this autumn - check out their websites for dates as this will be a fantastic show.Read full review
