This was a very funny film and I enjoyed it immensely. The overall buying experience was good, and there were no problems with the seller. Would recommend the film to anyone looking for a good laugh.
I had seen this film before I bought it, which should say something right? Well, actually the film is not bad but it doesn't really rate more than an average. John Cusack was about the best thing (person?) in the film and without him, I'd probably have given the film a 'below average' rating. His lines were good and he delivered them well. Diane Lane too was good also except I didnt really see any chemistry between them until right at the end. Dermot Mulroney was BAD. His acting was just so bland and lucklustre, there were several scenes where I was just sitting there wondering what on earth he was doing and what the director was thinking. Most of his scenes left me thinking 'is that all he was really supposed to do/say?' Having said that, I think the film is worth watching. The story line is nothing new, but that's not inherently a bad thing. It was mostly funny, though there were not many laugh out loud scenes. I enjoyed the dialogues between Diane Lane and John Cusack and between John Cusack and his friend (can't remember his name) and some of the ones between Diane Lane and her sister. The rest of the film is negligible, apart from those involving Diane Lane's dad which I felt were just okay. There were a few annoying scenes, annoying because they didn't really make sense and/or were quite unnecessary but were included because they are cliches which I guess the director or whomever felt would look good. The ending for example, with Diane Lane, her dog, the rowers, etc. was a 'love always wins' kind of scene which I found quite silly. I had seen it before when it was shown in the plane I was travelling in. It was a long flight and I was half asleep so hadnt really followed the film properly but I decided to buy it afterwards as it had looked interesting. I did find it interesting and don't think it was a waste of money buying it but it's certainly not an excellent film. I'd say it's probably just a film for girls. Guys, even those that like romantic films, are unlikely to really like this one.Read full review
What a great movie! I really didn't expect it to be as good as it was. Diane Lane and John Cusack were great together and a pleasant suprise to see Christopher Plummer. It was a very pleasant surprise to see Dermot Mulroney too! He's quite a dish! The story is about Sarah (Diane Lane) getting back into the dating game. When her sister posts her profile on a dating site, the offers come rolling in. The dates are hilarious, more of a what to be careful of if your in a similar situation! Through this site she meets Jake (John Cusack), and although their first date is a bit of a nightmare, something is just so right about them. If your a romcom girl like me, then you'll love this film! Definately worth a look. I know I'm gonna watch it loads! Enjoy!
The hardest trick is making them stay.. Sarah Nolan (Diane Lane) is a newly divorced woman cautiously rediscovering romance with the enthusiastic but often misguided help of her well-meaning family. As she braves a series of hilarious disastrous mis-matches and first dates, Sarah begins to trust her own instincts again and learns that, no matter what, it's never a good idea to give up on love!
This is one for the ladies, who like love and romance. When I first watched this film, I kad to buy it to add to my collection of movies that can be watched over and over again and never get bored off.
