I really enjoyed watching this film. There were so many fine actors in it, and it was historically correct. A sad end for Anne, who was unable to produce a son for King Henry, who cast her aside just as he did his first, fourth and fifth wives.

This one of the best period films ever made, perhaps along with "A Man for All Seasons" Richard Burton is superb and at his best in his part as he portrays Henry VIII with conviction. Genevieve Bujold plays the scheming Anne Boleyn with ease. This film has a superb cast including Sir Michael Hordern. Anthony Quayle,Nigel Davenport,Leo McKern, and a very young John Hurt as Richard Rich, amongst many other fine actors. This film does not disappoint, and truly captures the essence of the period, as well as not being too glossy a production, but more realistic than most.
Best portrayal of Anne Boleyn ever! Stroke of genius casting Ms Bujold who has a perfect command of the English language but a French accent as Anne would have done with her formative years spent in France. Richard Burton is a magnificent Henry as one imagines he would have been before descended into syphilitic insanity.

Another fine example of period drama that the UK excels at.My friend who likes historical period films thought it was a good adaption of an infamous time in UK history. The film rightfully won an Oscar for its authentic costume design, but as with all his Oscar nominations throughout his career the late Richard Burton was sadly denied what may have been his best screen perfomance(Henry VIII)of a most controversial king. The way he defied the church and treated his wives to get a much needed male heir to the throne made for enthralling viewing. The main story of what Anne Boleyn went through was worth it alone.I and my friend didn't dislike anything about it as it came out around the golden age of British filmmaking. The DVD was a bargain and arrived quick as my friend asked about it after catching the end of it on TV earler this year.Overall a recommended buy for lovers of British royal history.Read full review
One of my favourite old films. Historically inaccurate, non PC but enthralling. Quality of product good, well packaged and quick to arrive.
