Atomic Beam Flashlight - as good as claimed?
The flashlight is only about 5-1/2" long and takes 3 AAA batteries, but throws more light than an ordinary one taking 5 D batteries. I can walk into my garage, close the door so it's pitch black, push the button to turn on the light, and get a huge perfect circle of light that allows me to see the entire garage without any further movement of the flashlight. That perfect circle can be easily focused down to an intense small, tight beam that can throw light on something a good distance away. Press the button twice quickly and the strobe comes on. They claim the strobe could be a self-defense tool, disorienting the attacker. I figured this was just a TV claim, but when I got the lights (ordered 2, 1 for the house and 1 for the car) and turned the strobe on myself, I was blinded and disoriented immediately. They tell you not to look directly into the light as it could cause eye damage, and there's no doubt that could happen. Push the button quickly 3 times and the SOS pattern comes on, which could be a lifesaver in certain situations. The flashlight housing is quality anodized aluminum. You really need to get at least one; you won't believe how good this really is, and you can get one on ebay quite inexpensively. I got rid of some of my old flashlights as they would no longer be used.
