USB 3 microdrive - great as Linux SSD !
Bought this to use as a USB style boot drive to essentially learn a bit more about Linux. Using my HP Elitebook i5 8570p laptop, I removed the HDD connection, then booted Linux from DVD, installling Linux Mint 18.0 onto this Sandisk 64gb USB 3 microstick. - Now bear in mind that my Elitebook has Windows 10 on a Crucial SSD, and I've set it up as per normal to use the 'quick shutdown / start up' option in Win 10, so it's definitely no slouch on Win 10 boot up times. - Guess what, Linux Mint 18.0 as installed on this USB 3 stick, boots quicker than Win 10 off the dedicated SSD in my laptop ! Naturally it's stuck in a proper USB 3 socket, not a USB 2 one, but even so this is seriously impressive for an operating system loaded on a USB stick. - I've bought some more of these for my 'kids' to use as Linux Mint boot sticks, they always seem to be screwing up Windows 10 what with the 'bit torrent' slightly shady stuff they download. - Now they've got a get out of jail free operating system, from which can rescue their files, before they have to reset Windows 10 yet again to get it back up and running.
