An exceptional thriller, engaging characters, story & pacing. Chow Yun fat is simply magnetic. This won him the Golden Horse award for best actor & launched him from A popular tv star to Box Office gold superstar sensation. Director John woo (also won The Golden Horse award for Best Director) changed the acton cinema game here with mesmerizing shootout choreography & bewilderingly perfect editing. His technique improved with subsequent movies but this was the first in the 'Heroic Bloodshed' genre. It's fantastic...check it out then watch ABT2, The Killer, Bullet in the head, Hard Boiled, & many others. Hard Target (uncensored version) & Face Off were great, but his HK movies between 1986-1992 was A prime visionary at the top of his game.
