Close but not the real thing
When I first saw this I was excited to be able to acquire a version of the Rolling Stones “Their Satanic Majesties Request” LP with the original cover in a CD format. What I received was just what it said it was, a 3D version. Unfortunately that is not what the original cover is. The original cover is a lenticular, which similar to the 3D version also shows an illusion of depth, but adds to it by its ability to change as the image is viewed when you tilt the LP or change your sight line, in the case of the original a movement of the Rolling Stones heads changing directions along with a change in the angle and color of the flowers, and also most significantly the sudden appearance of the heads of all four Beatles. The appearance of the Beatles was a major factor in the interest and popularity of the cover. The 3D version, again while it does give you the illusion of depth, does show any movement by the Stones or flowers, and the two Beatles heads you can make out (George & John) are merely printed there and do not disappear when you tilt the CD or change your sight line, and the other two Beatles (Paul & Ringo) inexplicably do not appear at all. In fact the 3D square mounted on the CD cover is actually truncated on the right and left sides, leaving off the sections where Paul & Ringo would have appeared along with the flowers that trimmed the original on the sides. And on the bottom, also conspicuously missing are all of the flowers and fruit. The bottom section is completely lopped off. So while the colors are nice it IS NOT the visual of the original, merely an incomplete imitation without the visual effect.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
