This is such a wonderful story. It is primarily about the author's pet racoon, but it is so much more. It takes the reader back to a time 100 years in the past. Sterling's love for his family, pets and the concern for his brother fighting overseas in WWI as well as the pain over the loss of his mother make this story feel close and warm. Sterling has such a love for the unspoiled wilderness and takes us on a few journeys throughout the book. He was a man with a big heart. The story is an easy, quick read that you can read over a couple days. Great for young readers as well.
