If you actually know what an Olympus M-1 is, you'll already know how it's different from the early (non-MD) OM-1 which succeeded it. If you don't know what's special about the M-1, you'd be much better off buying a later OM-1MD or OM-1n instead: They're a good bit cheaper, apart from anything else. Other than that, the M-1 near enough is an OM-1, so watch out for all the usual faults - foam decaying into black goo, etc. If you manage to find a good one, enjoy using it. Slight risk that it's a fake, with genuine M-1 top, bottom (with a suitably-low serial number) and back all swapped onto a later OM-1 body, but you'd need a good look inside to confirm. In use, you'd probably never notice. Prices for M-1 vary according to condition, with a mint, fully-working example fetching considerably more than one needing work done. (M-1 refurbishment is much more expensive due to certain parts being different and unobtainable.) There's a slight price premium over a good early OM-1, but not sure it's justified.Read full review
