Best fix solution to a broken IMAC mount
This mount is easy to install, better than replacing the original mounts which require a lot of work. The one thing that would make this better...provide some velcro so the monitor will stay attached to the pivot part of the mount, perhaps a magnetic device would work as well. Must have - if you must have it.
The hinge design for the thin Apple iMac computers leaves a lot to be desired. Someone at Apple thought plastic washers under bolt heads that hold the hinge spring was a good idea. Well, it wasn't. When the plastic washers have had enough, they fail, and the spring no longer holds the display upright. What you have then, is a display that tilts forward. Options? Put a few books under the bottom of the display... but that may restrict airflow being sucked in from the bottom causing the internals to overheat. Or, take it apart, risk cracking the screen, and struggling with a kit sold on eBay (almost guaranteed to tear up your fingers) to replace the broken plastic washers with a steel plate. Or... this thing. The idea is absurdly simplistic. It's a brace that you slide on the stand, turn a locknut, and you're done. Out of sight, out of mind. Just remember to loosen the locknut if you need to adjust the angle of your screen, and then tighten (but not too tight) again.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Work flawlessly

Perfect fix

A great solution for a broken hinge iMac
Once the hinge goes on the 27" iMac, it's really tricky to keep the screen at a usable angle. I tried a few things, but to no avail. I thought 'someone must have come up with a solution for this' and I was right! Broken hinge fix!
My beloved 27" late 2012 iMac suddenly suffered the dreaded screen sag while we weren't home and I immediately feared I'd be spending more into an old computer than I should when I found this little GEM. Well designed 3D printed part that arrived quickly and the print is very clean! It is VERY smug so required a little gentle coaxing but that's good because it will hold on as it needs to the stand to brace the screen up.
