  • All the bells and whistles, except,,,

this is a really good GPS bicycle computer. Proven reliable. All the features I wanted, except blue tooth. I wish I had noticed that before buying it. It's not a deal breaker for many, but it is a little inconvenient in reporting to Garmin Connect or Strava. All that means is that I have to attach the device to a computer with the supplied cable. It really isn't a problem. Just a minor inconvenience. Other than that one thing I love this computer. And if blue tooth connectivity isn't all that important to you, then this is the one to buy.

  • Works for me

This is my second Garmin 800 that I use on my road bike. My first one is probably on some homeless guy's shopping cart because I foolishly left it in my helmet after a ride and set the helmet on the ground while I showed my step son a few tips on his new tri bike. And I drove off and left it. When I returned an hour later it was of course gone. So the thing is, I had a chance to replace this GPS with something else but didn't because it thoroughly fill me needs. Except for the base map which I think is utterly useless, the device has been reliable over the past few years I had it. I installed a street map on a micro SD card just like last time. There isn't enough internal storage to load the map into the Garmin's memory but the micro SD cards are cheap enough. I don't even use all the features this GPS so those of you who do will not find it wanting. Be aware that the only way to charge the battery is via USB - no quick battery change - but it has lasted me 6 hours or a little more between charges. When I download my activity to Garmin Connect I leave it connected so it's fully charged for the next ride. I purchased this 800 and the prior one refurbished and don't regret it. The pricing is great and continues to come down as the 800 is superseded by newer models. This one fills all my needs with its user-defined data pages. I'd buy another should I be foolish enough to repeat my mistake again.

  • Love it!

Before purchasing this, I had a chead wireless Axiom computer. I used it a few times, but was disappointed in it's performance. I can't say that with this Garmin, Wonderful. I love the larger screen and the GPS feature gives a more accurate reading of all the crucial information cyclists need.

  • Every roadie needs one of these

Today was my first time using my garmin 800. I mapped my own custom 45 mile route of heart busting hills. I must say i dont know how i ever went so long without one of these. My advice...GET ONE!

  • Refurb Garmin Edge 800

Excellent purchase. Easy to use. Good battery life. Makes training easier. GPS turn by turn direction needs improvement, but this isn't why I bought the Edge 800.

  • Factory Refurbished

I bought a factory refurbished 800 unit and it still has issues. It turns off sporadically and the mileage and climbing count is always off compared to others on the same ride. It still has problems that I'd rather not deal with and will never buy a refurbished unit again!

  • Wonderful

Have the 810, but the 800 is the same thing at a better value. Only thing missing is bluetooth. Love my 800. It is easy to see, maps are awesome, gps is great for exploration (and getting home)
