Back in my pre-teen years I was totally into model cars, especially the AMT kits that I would build and paint over a week-end, amassing a collection of well over 100 models. My older brother, who was really into foreign sports cars, collected some very nicely done pre-made metal cars later on in his adult life, a few of which I still have after his passing. My interest in models is probably, in part, what attracted me to wood carving. In my teen age years I held a job at the grocery store all through high school. My father would not let me buy a car with my money, but saw fit for me to buy a motorcycle, my first being a Honda S90. My friend, Tim Mendes, and I rode our bikes all over So. Humboldt in all kinds of weather. My senior year I upgraded to a 305 Scrambler, which I sold to pay for the birth of my first son, Tim. In my thirties, I bought a 650 Yamaha, which we hauled down to Santa Cruz for son Tim to use while at college. For whatever reason, in the last few months, the algorithms on FB have been showing me post after post of classic British motorcycles, the Triumph 650 Bonneville being my all time favorite dream bike. Well, I'm old and foolish, but wise enough to know that having a motorcycle was out of the question at this stage of my life. But I'm young enough to think that, perhaps, there is a good model out there that would feed my fantasy. After some research, I found what I was looking for, a blue and white Triumph Bonneville, like my alter ego, Steve McQueen and Angela Bassett rode around the streets of San Francisco. It arrived in the mail today. Read full review
