Product Information

With a screenplay by naturalist Gerald Durrell, this British film follows the poignant tale of a loving otter, who gives birth to a son named Tarka, only to find him in danger of death at the fangs of a pack of hounds. Killed in the act of protecting him, Tarka's mother leaves his side early in his young life, leaving him to embark on an incredible journey for survival on his own.

    One off my favourite all-time movies from a child

    It's amazing story is told through wonderful male otter to called,taka who has to struggle with the everyday attack of being hunted by hounds unfortunately this is not a happy ending but is still a wonderful film to this day and remains very fond in my heart.

    'If you like Otters'

    A great romp, if you like nature shows, you will not be disappointed. Brilliantly narrated by Peter Ustinov its like a David Attenborough show with a plot, oh yeah and a few humans thrown into the mix. before I discovered this movie, the only moving film I had of an otter was 'Ring of Bright Water' this is easily as good, though with less humor. Great under water photography and a host of other woodland creatures. Enjoy.
