Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" vignettes.
Could possibly be the worst film ever made! You could forgive the shocking continutity errors and incredibly poor camera work and direction if it was a barrel of laughs. But it's not. This is the most cringeworthy guff that will ever grace your telly screen. If there was a plot, I didn't spot it. And anything resembling comedy or even mild humour must have been abducted by aliens. That's the only explanation for this waste of an hour or so of my life. It's just mind-crushingly dull. Not even rubbish in a good way. it's like they let some kids from remedial school write & direct a film. If you really want to start questioning the futility of existence and just what the point of it all is, watch this. THIS FILM IS SO BAD IT WILL MAKE YOU WANT TO STICK YOUR HEAD IN THE GAS OVEN. I REALLY, REALLY MEAN IT. IT'S THAT BAD (and not ever in a so bad it's good way). If you pay money for this film, you'll only be disappointed. Even if you get it for free, you'll feel cheated. Spend an hour and a half poking yourself in the eye with a fork. It really is a better & more enjoyable activity than viewing this UTTER BILGE.Read full review
I Thought It Was A Good Film... Recommened 4 Young Adults And Children.. Me And My Daughter Found It Hilarious... :)
I bought this dvd with it being one of the first things adam sandler did. i was not that impressed by it. its a very strange film. Sandler can be seen talking to "us" in parts of the film and there is no real plot, its not even that funny.
i decided to buy it as i am a big adam sandler fan and had not seen this one. its must of been one of if not the first film he ever made, its really old and not what you would expect from his usual films.
