Gravel ok - not so chippings.
Works well on open soil, provided there are no stones present. Because the spikes are parallel there is a tendency for chippings or hard lumps to jam in position. My front garden is stone chippings where the weeds grow, and the intended use is not possible. Brilliant idea let down by shoddy materials
I so want to give this 5 stars and if it had lasted lionget than a week I might have. The concep is brilliant and when it isn't broken it is ideal. The problem was a it is thin metal and naff plastic. Metal bends after couple of uses then the joint between metal and plastic snaps. Somewhere someone should be naked by one of these out of all robust materials - when they do they will make a killing.
