Let me preface this by stating that I'm am totally biased on this subject. I loved this show when I was younger. The mid 80's were the golden years for this style of cartoon. Kids had so many cool choices back then..Transformers, He-Man, G.I. Joe, Robotech, and of course Voltron. Voltron is the story of a group of space explorers (Keith, Lance, Pidge, Hunk and Sven...the Voltron Force) sent to find the giant robot Voltron. The robot was split into five parts. Each part was in the shape of a lion. Once the five lions were brought together, they would form Voltron. Five robot lions coming together to form a giant robot and fight giant robot monsters called Robeasts. For a 10 year-old boy, this was the ultimate. As far as this collection goes, this is Volume I. It contains the first 15 episodes of the series on 3 DVD's. It also has some special features, including the original pilot. There are going to be a total of 8 volumes, one for each lion and one for each team of 5 for the "Vehicle" Voltron. {That's another story altogether.} You can get the regular DVD case or the "collector's" tin case. Now if you're a fan of the show, then you already know if you want this. If you're new to the show, then I can recommend this title with fair warning. Each episode, once they find Voltron, is basically formulaic. Their planet is attacked, they try to fight the monster with the lions, they lose, they form Voltron and game over. This show came out in 1984 and of course, the animation is dated. If you can get past that, I think that you'll like this show.Read full review
I can't believe I'm either the only one that has noticed or the only one that's missing episode 13? Other than that the collection is great. Picture is great & the 5.1 audio is an excellent addition. I have a hard time getting past a missing episode though, I'm funny like that.

When I first heard that they had the first season of the original Voltron on DVD, I couldn't believe it. I just HAD to get it! And when I did finally get it, I spent the next 2 weeks, straight, watching this first season OVER and OVER and OVER again! I felt like a little kid again, sitting in front of the TV on a saturday morning! So to anyone thinking about buying this, I must make this disclaimer: WARNING!! THIS DVD SET COULD CAUSE THE VIEWER TO SIT FOR HOURS ON END ON A COUCH, CHAIR, OR RECLINER, WHERE HE/SHE MAY ULTIMATELY FORGET TO EAT, DRINK, OR GO TO THE BATHROOM. THE CREATORS, PRODUCERS, AND DISTRIBUTORS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PERSON SUFFERING FROM LACK OF SLEEP, LACK OF FOOD/DRINK, LACK OF SEEING DAYLIGHT, OR FOR ANY URINATION STAINS ON THAT ARE LEFT ON THE COUCH. IF YOU ARE WILLING TO TAKE THIS RISKS, THEN BY ALL MEANS, GET THIS DVD SET!Read full review
I am so glad they have released all these sets, it takes me back to my simple childhood days. For those of you who are not familiar with voltron.... its basically the 80's cartoon version of todays Power Rangers. My kids had no idea who voltron was but as soon as I popped it in they were glued to the t.v. So if you like voltron, power rangers or your kids do I highly recommend getting all these sets. There are 5 sets in all (as of now) and come in tin cases with each lions head as the artwork, red, green, blue, black, yellow. Each set has 3 discs and most discs have around 6 - 8 episodes on each. I recommend if you are going to go for the whole set to get them in order so you wont be jumping around in the story line allot. Blue lion is the first set
I received the item in 2 days..Wow.. It was nicely packaged..cool.. It was in perfect condition!!! Holy$#!%!! I'm now watching for the other auctions for other seasons.. The video is pretty cool, it comes in a metal case, then has a folding CD case inside.. Three disks, the whole season of "Voltron" (boy those guys say 'Golion' a lot ;)) My kids love it! I also found I apparently didn't see every episode when I used to watch..
I loved this cartoon and still do it was the best when I was growing up. About time they release this as a region 1 DVD .They dont make cartoon like this anymore When it comes out I'am going to sit down with my son and watch it.Even the voltron toy from the 80's were real Die Cast metal not like the plastic toys of today.I still remember getting my first Voltron toy at Clover Dept store it was the best.I played with that every day. Now Voltron action figure were re-released as a Limited Edition Masterpiece edition and they did an awesome job as they were made of die-cast just like in the 80's I got mine.
The dics are in great condition as are the collective tins and they brought back a lot of memories. I still have my Diecast Voltron

Growing up Voltron was my favorite cartoon growing up. I use to love to watch it. When I saw Voltron for sale I jumped on it. I enjoyed Voltron. It started out slow then it got better at the end. I love the collector case it comes in. The only thing about the DVD I wish they would redo is the voice overs again. That was the only thing I didn't like about. Other then that IT GREAT I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND Y'ALL GETTING THIS!!!
