    Presto 12 Cup Perxolator APPROVED

I am quite pleased with this product since we have been using it as our only coffee maker, retiring the Mr. Coffee coffee maker into storage. Being all stainless steel, the health hazards of plastic tubing and aluminum are avoided, and percolated coffee just smells and tastes so much better. Unplugging and reheating the coffee later is achieved by simply removing the basket and stem and plugging it back in. The Presto makes coffee really fast and really hot, so I can enjoy a cup longer than I used to with the other coffee makers. It appears to be very well made, not flimsy or cheap. Easy to clean, also. I simply rinse the parts in hot water and wipe the outside of the pot with a damp paper towel. I would recommend to any coffee lover this Presto percolator.

works fine most of the time

In the last weeks several times the percolator does not perk it only heats up the water . Not sure why other times it works fine . We also use it to make tea and several times the teabags are not even wet .

  • BEST coffee EVER!

I have been using Presto percolators for years. It was what we had when I was growing up. Of course, over the years, I went to electric drip coffee makers, and I used them for a good while. But for some reason I just decided to go back to "perking" and My Presto has been with me for almost 20 years. It is easy to clean , looks elegant, and makes the best coffee ever. "perking" is the way to go.The Presto has an indicator light but you really don't need it because when it stops perking it is done. I usually get unbleached filters, poke a hole in the middle with scissors, and line the Presto coffee filter with it. Just makes cleaning it a cinch. Rinse pat and parts every now and again with vinegar or run vinegar and water through it like a regular cycle. The coffee doesn't sit on a plate and burn lilke a drip style, and it stays warm until you drink all of the pot. Also, If it SHOULD begin to "slow start," you might be tempted to think it is getting ready to die. BUT, before you replace it, try a new cord. Trust me on this one. And yes, the lid is supposed to fit TIGHTLY! ( Imagine if you ever accidentally knocked it over...) My last Presto made it 16 years of steady every day 12 cuppers. I am so in love with Presto, You will be too. Best regards...

  • Percolator convert

I've always enjoyed a good cup of coffee, but it wasn't until I realized that the way the coffee is brewed is more important than the brand of coffee used. I found that I always like the way coffee tasted at a particular relative's home, and inquired about it. It was always made in an unfiltered percolator. After many disappointing cups of "good" coffee from drip makers , I was sold on this type of maker. Unfortunately, the model of the one I liked is no longer available and the company has questionable quality standards now, so I researched and compared many units. I can't say that this one is better, but it's certainly as good and as advertised.

  • One of the better contemporary percolators.

I have used electric percolators for decades; usually older models, made in the USA. When you use an older piece of equipment you can never tell how long they will last. This was made in China, and while I don't see a date on it, I wouldn't call it vintage. I thought is was older and made in USA when I bought it. That said, I look for certain things in a percolator. All stainless, quick brew, easy clean and the amount of coffee that is used to brew (it varies tremendously by model). This appears to be all stainless. Some have aluminum baskets or stems, or even smaller parts of stems. It is very easy to use and to clean (though not submersible; I never put the pots in water anyway). A great benefit to this model is that it uses about 1/3 less coffee to make the same pot of coffee I always love! And another Presto I got before this (a new one :( ) had a terrible burned taste. This makes a nice deep, rich tasting coffee with less! A not so great aspect is that it has started making a weird sound as it perks. It's days may be numbered. It was used, and you always take your chances with used kitchen gadgets. This is one reason I prefer to stick to older made in the USA percolators. Some of them function for 20 or 30 years as opposed to the newer ones that have a more limited life. Overall, I am happy with this.

  • Best Coffee Pot

I have bought every type and brand of coffee pots in my 55 years of life. None of them got my coffee very hot. Even after being just perked. But I finally decided to buy a percolator coffee pot. I remembered my grandparents using a percolator pot all their life. I can tell you this. The coffee is piping hot, stays hot and the taste is so much better. This Presto percolator is the best coffee pot I have ever had/have. I would definitely buy it again. I am very sure this one will last a very long time. I highly recommend it to anyone who is a coffee drinker such as I am. I love it!

  • Old School Flavor!

We had a GE coffee pot much like this, that we received as a wedding gift nearly 48 years ago. It gave out somewhere along the way, maybe twenty or more years ago, and we went to what was then the trend (still is, I guess), drip type. We were talking the other day about how much richer the flavor of our coffee was in a percolator, so we decided to try to find one. How happy I am that they are still available, and that this one was affordable! Our coffee for the last two or three days tastes like home again! We easily cleaned this up by running one potful of just water, with cream of tartar, and then using Ajax to remove the remaining stains. The basket and interior are stainless steel, which is better than the aluminum I remembered from our GE. That means I can use the dishwasher for those parts that come out. It's all good, again!

  • Presto stainless steel coffee maker.

We're old school and don't like drip coffee makers. But we love Brewed coffee. We bought our first stainless steel coffee maker years ago and it kept going for over 10 year before it quit. My Husband insisted on buying another one but we could only find another brand. It lasted only 2 years. So we searched E-BAY until we came across the Presto Stainless steel coffee maker like before. And bought it brand new. Best decision ever. Easy to clean and always great tasting coffee. Two very Happy customers

  • Hot coffee!

Great HOT coffee brewed to the strength you prefer! No K cups to the landfill!! Coffee grounds go straight to the compost-a wonderful advantage if you ask me. Regular coffeemakers didn’t get or keep the coffee hot enough and we are environmentally conscious so k cups weren’t a viable option. Perked coffee was our answer and this percolator is tops! Easy to use, easy to clean, easy price..can’t ask for much more than that!

  • Super hot silky smooth coffee in minutes

I decided to go "Old School" and buy a new percolator after yearly purchases of automatic drip machines. They were difficult to clean and took up a lot of space and my coffee was cold halfway through my first cup. Not with this Presto percolator ! It brews a super hot coffee, smooth and velvety. It's easy to clean and shines right up afterwards with a soft cloth. Doesn't take up a lot of space and I can move it from table to counter in a second. It brews very quickly and only takes a few minutes when the red light appears informing you that it's ready. My only complaint is not with the Presto, but with the local grocery stores that don't carry percolator filters. It's recommended to use "wrap around" filters, and I agree. Keeps the grounds inside the filter and no mess clean up. Had to order mine online. No worries, My morning starts off right with the old fashioned brew sounds of a percolator I remember as a kid, and my Mom and Dad having their first morning cup. Excellent product and price.
