First-person action explodes onto the Macintosh in Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition, as the irascible hero defends the human race by pounding aliens in 39 levels of non-stop mayhem and carnage. With a deadly arsenal of pistols, shotguns, grenades, machine guns, mines, cannons, bombs and more, Duke Nukem runs, swims, flies (jetpack), crawls, and jumps his way through four episodes: LA Meltdown, Lunar Apocalypse, Shrapnel City, and The Birth. Four difficulty settings allow players to ease into the action or attack with all guns blazing from the start, as Duke encounters earthquakes, skyscrapers, canyons, sewers, and more.<br><br>Levels are heavily populated with items to improve or enhance health (med-kits, armor) and equipment (jetpack, night vision goggles, steroids, boots, scuba gear, and keycards), as well as a wide range of enemies and characters. Assault troopers and captains, pig cops, tanks, drones, recon patrols, the Octabrain, Protozoid Slimers, enforcers, and more lurk in the many levels awaiting Duke's special brand of contact. Multiplayer "DukeMatch" accommodates up to eight competitors via LAN or the Internet, as well as a two-player modem match up. A "Fake Multiplayer" option allows soloists to play against one to seven computer-controlled players with adjustable AI for ultimate challenges.
