A great product and convenience.
These carousels are wonderful for couch potatoes. This is my second one. I use it as a CD transport for music CDs only since Blu-ray, and I use separate DAC via the coax out. My only complaints are that the remote operation for common is overly complicated for common functions, it lacks a headphone jack, and the display is too small to read from the couch. I have downloaded the manual and learning how to recompose my CD collection. This is third multi-unit that I have purchased. The model has more features that my earlier purchases. Sony should start making these gems again

This is a great player. Cd audio quality is excellent, definitely deserves the ES label. The DVD quality is ok there are many adjustments that can be made to the video and this will accommodate your screen size and also directly affect image quality. It will adjust properly to every size screen. Set it once and your done. I suggest when you load and label your 400 discs, keep the cases in a similar or or make a hand copy, just in case it's needed in the future for an unforeseen reason. Definitely download the online digital owners manual, this comes in handy and you can learn anything needed. Big boy with great results!
Great picture and sound. It updates with Gracenote which is fantastic. Only wish it could connect to my existing Escient DVD-100 and my two Sony 777 changers. My Escient no longer can connect to Gracenote because Escient is defunct and their server no longer can make the "hand shake" to Gracenote. Now if I could only change the code to enable me to to that....wishful thinking.

A wonderful machine for an audiophile.
I have multiple changers. One is dedicated to SACD playback, while the others alternately feed an outboard DAC By Toslink as transports for CDs. They have been entirely reliable. Everything is in the box. It is as simple as looking on my list for what I want to listen to by number & and then punching in that number. I listen to much, much more music this way because of the convenience. I use a Schiit Modi 3 DAC, which is a great improvement over the onboard DAC. SACD playback is fantastic. Black backgrounds, noiseless, no glare, and smooth. Superior to CDs. Due to the typical pricing of the Sony DVP-CX777ES, it’s a highly affordable introduction to SACDs.
