This is a chunkier older-style model which I got at a very reasonable price. It has most of the virtues of Toshiba solid engineering and my version is fairly adept at multi-region play. One or two less brand-authenticated NTSC DVDs (which I succeeded in getting to play on my lighter-built multi-region Toshiba SD-1015 type model in the lounge) would not play on this SD-330 even though I tried them on 'auto' format instead of PAL. All my PAL discs play perfectly. Morever, my NTSC discs of various region codes from NORMAL brand suppliers, i.e. by far the majority, do also, on the 'auto' setting, so other users should have no problem. The remote control is sensibly larger than that for the SD-1015 and therefore accommodates my thickish fingers better, making it easier to operate. I (and am sure most other people) find latest models are too often supplied with unneccessarily 'titchy' remotes! The product under review, the SD-330E, works admirably with my bedroom TV fitted with headphones but I'm sure would suit those who'd want it for their lounge. Picture and sound are excellent.Read full review
I always remember when I first bought my TV that the hi-fi mags (June 2003) were raving on about the new Toshiba SD-330E DVD player which was replacing the SD-220.At the time Id already got a home cinema DVD player so it was a waste of time getting this new Toshiba. Now that times have changed(baby born, then baby becomes a toddler i.e knocking speakers over!)I felt there was no need for the cinema set up,so I decided to get rid and start looking on eBay for the Toshiba SD-330E or at least the SD-220.Whilst looking I was lucky enough to have plenty of options, so I could take my time and wait for the best price. Then another stroke of luck,I recieved a money off voucher!brilliant! When I finally bid and won the Toshiba SD-330 it was virtually only the postage I had to pay for! Having had the dvd player now for a few months I feel that it compliments my TV brilliantly and I am now a half satisfied being.Half satisfied because now I want to improve my set up even more by connecting the two together with a quality scart lead! Back to eBay then for another blast from the past bargain!Read full review
Great picture and sound quality but clumsy in terms of other functions. Listening mp3 songs is almost impossible and viewing jpg pictures very unintuitive.
bought it due to the price and the make of the dvd player is one of the best had toshiba before and never had any trouble. very easy to use.
