The star of H.E.R.O. is Roderick Hero, the leader of the Helicopter Emergency Rescue Operation. You must guide Roderick through a series of mine shafts to rescue the miners trapped inside. Each level consists of one mine shaft containing one trapped miner.<br><br>Lurking in each mine are several types of dangerous creatures, such as spiders, bats and giant moths, that will take away a life away if you touch them. But our hero has invented a microlaser built into his helmet that can be used to stun the animals. And to top things off, Roderick has made a back-mounted propeller that he can use to move himself from level to level of the mine. Using the laser or the propeller depletes energy from your limited reserves, but rescuing a miner replenishes your energy. In order to get to the miners, you will have to blow up various obstacles blocking your path; to allow you to do this, you are armed with five sticks of dynamite.
