Product Information
Play as a baseball bat-wielding child and travel through the dark world in "Monster Party" for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Released by Bandai in 1989, this macabre monster-mashing platform game features a boy named Mark. Bert, an alien who needs monsters removed from his realm, drafts Mark into battle. However, before they leave, Bert magically fuses himself into Mark. Armed with the power of his baseball bat and an otherworldly presence, Mark is ready to save the dark world. "Monster Party" for the NES features eight levels. The objective of each stage is to traverse the level, find the bosses, and defeat them. One of the bosses will have a key that will allow you to travel to the next level. Outside of the bosses, the levels are filled with all manner of enemies. You'll fight everything from disembodied heads to bipedal fish as you explore each level. These stages are also varied in their environments, taking place in forests, sewers, haunted mansions, and the clouds.Where "Monster Party" truly shines is in its array of boss creatures. Bandai developed these bosses to be humorous rather than scary. For example, one boss is a giant cat who shoots smaller cats at Mark. Another boss is a giant floating shrimp. To beat one giant boss, all you need to do is watch him dance. Even though Mark is traveling through an evil world in this game, you'll constantly have a smile on your face due to these bosses. "Monster Party" gives you a few different ways to dispatch your enemies. Your character can simply swing his bat at a foe. He can also reflect projectiles back at the sender. After you defeat some monsters, they will drop an item that lets you transform into Bert. As this powerful creature, you can fly freely throughout the level. You can also shoot fireballs, allowing you to defeat foes from a distance. Other power-ups you can find in the game include health potions and score boosts. One interesting feature is that "Monster Party" presents every item as a question mark. You'll never know what you're going to get before grabbing an item.Though "Monster Party" is a horror game, it features a bright color palette. From the moment you start gaming, "Monster Party" offers you an array of compelling visuals. For example, in the first level of this game, the trees are made of tiny faces. This NES video game also features no slowdown or choppiness. Even during intense fights, the action remains smooth. The quality gameplay is important since this NES game is pretty challenging. However, it offers unlimited continues, letting players start from the same level they died on. With a bit of practice, gamers of all skill levels can complete this NES title. This game was released before the advent of the ESRB rating system. It's suitable for all ages, featuring only comedic, cartoonish violence. "Monster Party" for the NES is memorable among collectors because it was only released in the United States. By combining humor and fast-paced action, "Monster Party" holds its own when compared to other titles. It deserves a spot in the collection of any gamer.Product Identifiers
