If you're a big retro gamer, or if you have some old GameBoy games that you want to play, then you definitely want to check the Super GameBoy out. Not only does it play all original GameBoy games, it adds color to them! You can choose between the default color scheme or your own - you can pick four colors to use to color the game! It has several good-looking borders that you can choose from, or you can draw your own with a built-in border drawing tool. And because it plays on Super Nintendo, you get to play these games with the highly-acclaimed Super Nintendo controller! The Super GameBoy does have a few minor flaws. For one thing, it plays games only in about 75% of your screen. This isn't too big of a problem, especially because you can choose (or make) a border to fill up the rest of the screen. The only other flaw is that it can't play GameBoy Color games (the ones with clear cartridges). However, this is hardly a flaw at all, especially because the Game Boy Color showed up many YEARS after this did. Just be aware that this thing only plays games that will work on the original GameBoy, so if you want to play GameBoy Color games and don't care about nostalgia, then you might want to check out the GameCube's GameBoy Player. These are my only two complaints with the thing. Other than that, it's great. Its ability to play your cherished GameBoy games in color on the big screen of your TV combined with its highly customizable options makes the Super GameBoy a winner, and for those looking for a blast from the past and some good GameBoy fun, look no further! Pros -Plays original GameBoy games on your TV -Adds color to the otherwise monochrome games -Highly customizable options including borders and colors -Perfect for retro gamers (or anyone with a Super Nintendo, really) Cons -Only plays games in about 75% of the screen -Only plays original GameBoy games (check out the GameCube's GameBoy Player for another option)Read full review
The Super GameBoy provides several benefits that the handheld machine doesn't have. The main selling point was playing all your handheld games on a big TV screen, and the fact that it added color to the monochrome screen everyone was used to on the Game Boy. All this was achieved by use of the simple adaptor. The adaptor supports up to 64 colors for the border (4 palettes of 16 colors each), and 16 colors for the screen (4 palettes of 4 colors each). Some games (like Kirby's Dream Land) only utilize certain hues of the palate, while others (like Donkey Kong) utilized a full array of available colors. The control conversion from the 2 button GameBoy to the 6 button SNES controller is easy to understand and utilize. Another benefit consists of the ease of playing multiplayer games over the SNES without having to use the Game Link cable and be within a few foot radius of each other. Overall the Super GameBoy is a worthwhile purchase, as it adds a new dimension to your videogame experience and expands your handheld game library into console titles.Read full review
IF you had an SNES in the day there's a 4/5 chance you had a super gameboy. It was the coolest in the days before backlights (in exception for the non us released Gameboy Light system) and rechargeable batteries (affordable ones anyways). Playing game boy was ROUGH! You'd have to huddle under the lamp next to the couch at your Nana's house, play at the kitchen table, or have your room lit up like a Christmas tree! And then IT would usually come with warning without mercy it was the blinking red light of impending gameboy death! Then an Angel came to earth calling herself SUPER GameBoy! All you had to do was slot your favorite game into her everlasting chalice of sweet 8-bit monochromatic glory and in vivd giant magnificent splendor your GameBoy games where on your tv!!!! You used the SNES controller to play and some games like Pokemon even got a neat custom border around where the game was playing. The Cartridge had a range of frames to play built in too.. Like the ever popular gameboy frame. The game unlike the Nintendo Gamecube's game boy player does not take up the whole screen but around 60% of the screen positioned in the middle of your TV set. The resulting area rather than being left blank or even a solid color was decorated with lush boarders and fun art. The gameboy border looked like the classic big "boy" game boy's iconic flat grey with dark grey screen border which just oozes classic yummy nostalgia. With funny perks like the borders color screens and other goodies. The Super game boy is well worth the 15.99 you may spend on it on today's after market. If you're an SNES or Gameboy enthusiast or BOTH like myself, PICK ONE UP TODAY!Read full review
Expected the product to have problems given that I paid $25 for it. Aside from some minor startup issues it plays all the gameboy games I have without fail. Recommend this product to anyone who has gameboy games and wants to play them on the big screen.

I purchased this item recently for my mother who loves playing her Gameboy games but is having a difficult time seeing the tiny screen on the gameboy. When I was a chid I used to have this item myself, but somehow it was lost, so I repurchased it. It is a great adapter and is fabulous for being able to play the old school Gameboy games, that are no longer made, on a larger screen. It works quite well and my mother loves it. Just remember to blow any dust out of the cartridge before putting it into the gaming system or it may not work correctly.
Works like a charm on every game boy cart I put in it. Has some fun little extra features built in, as well as the color palettes.

This product is possibly one of the best things to have happened to the SNES system. Of course you'll always want to go back and play one of your old favorite Game Boy games because lets face it, they're awesome! And with the super Game Boy you can play your Game Boy games 1. On any TV you wish, 2. without the worry of your GB's batteries dying and 3. with a SNES controller (how awesome is that!) In conclusion this is an essential to all GB and SNES lovers...
The Super Game Boy adapter has the ability to bring your favorite Game Boy games to life on your SNES! Sadly, it only works for the original games and the Game Boy Color games, but many classics still wait to be played. Worth the fun if you want to see your on-the-go classics on your home screen!
I have tried Nintendo’s Super Game Boy on/through the Pokémon Stadium games and Transfer Paks on the Nintendo 64. After so much time has passed, I guess it feels very good to re-use the actual Super Game Boy on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. After several years, I have finally completed the Super Game Boy collection (I purchased the Super Nintendo Entertainment System Super Game Boy Two from another seller on Amazon and/or eBay several years ago)!! 👏👍👊
