This is the 3rd one of these I've owned, and it's just as good as the ones I bought new (which are no longer available). The only part of the order I couldn't use was the new earphones, as these are the rigid plastic ones, and I can't get them into my ears - they're much too big! However, I've always used the soft, rubber earbud type ones that I can buy elsewhere, and that sort has a Walkman-compatible jack, so that's OK.

My 91 year old Mum who is sadly close to blind now relies upon her radio for company and to lull her off to sleep. When my niece was planning taking her for a week away Mum's only concern was how she would get on without her radio so I got her one of these to see her through. She has had a similar cheap personal radio before which didn't last but I'm pleased to say that not only did this do the job, I've noticed that several weeks on it's still by her side, fully functioning and as good as new. My teenage son gets through ear pods almost weekly. Mum wouldn't give this such a rough ride as he gives his i-pod I'm sure but she has given it a fair test and it's stood up where others have failed. It's about the size of a fag packet so ideal for travel, with standard analog dial and controls which Mum took to completely intuitively (she would never have got on with a digital interface!) It's quite stylish if a bit light and plasticy but it's evidently more robust than it feels and it seems to have worn well. We live near Portsmouth & Mum's station of choice is Radio Solent. Mum's holiday was down the coast at Eastbourne, not that far away it's true but far enough for the signal to deteriorate yet Mum was pleased as punch to find her beloved Radio Solent was just as strong as at home. It seems therefore to be a good little tuner. Also, as far as I'm aware it is still on it's first battery despite her snoozing off to sleep wearing it every night when she was away at least. I don't imagine this will be winning any accolades for hi-fi sound reproduction but it's decent enough and if you want a simple, reliable and very pleasing little analog tranny that doesn't scare your old Mum (in fact she thinks it's great) then I don't think you'll find better than this for £15.Read full review
I bought one of these radios before years ago ,they are very compact and easy to use. They seem to pick up a very clear signal when tunning in and this helps you listen to your favourite radio programmes with ease.Lightness is a great feature of this sony radio i can walk around my workshop with it in my pocket and not know its there and the headphones work well with this model for sound. They use just one battery at a time too so you know when its energy has ended the radio sound goes immediately fuzzy.I have dropped the radio in the past and it just keeps on working they are robust.
I have had one of these little radios before and it has had a fairly tough time of it as I am a gardener and use it all the time. it has been sturdy and able to withstand all the bashing and knocking that happens in that type of work and has carried on when a lesser model would have broken. When the last one did finally give up the ghost, I immediately replaced it with the same model. I do have to fiddle a bit with the earplugs to get the stereo effect but once that has been established, it works well.

I bought this to use at work, I milk cows and wanted to listen to the radio. somedays the reception is ok, others it is not. I have to keep the radio in my pocket which I think is the reason that reception is bad, although i can get classic fm nice and clear which is a bit odd. The headphones in this pic are not the ones I got when I bought it, mine are tiny ones that fit in the ear. Other than that it is a neat radio, easy to use, ok for the garden or outside use.
This is the second time I have purchased this item and love it. ideal for listening to all your sporting occasions while at work , shopping etc etc. The product is small and very easy to carry around in your pocket and the single battery seems to last a long time. The fine tuning for different stations can at times be fiddly but generally the reception is good enough to hear in FM stereo. That is why I purchased my second sony radio walkman as a backup if ever my present set packs up for some reason or other . You won't be dissapointed with this item so go for it....
Had been looking around for ages. My partner has had one of these for years but the on/off switch went dodgy. He kept fixing it because he said it couldn't be replaced. I proved him wrong and was happy to find this. Let's hope this was lasts as long.
