What a great 16 port 10/100 hub. It is just what I would expect from an item made by NETGEAR. I happily unplugged my 8 port hub and it slipped this new one in without any problems. It is a little noise as the casing houses 2 fans that are about an inch in diameter. An inlet fan on the left hand side and an outlet fan on the right hand size. I have found the network % indicator on the front quiet interesting, but personally it has made no difference to my network performance. A power switch would have been useful so that I could easily turn it off when its not in use and stop the gentle fan noise, but I guess that this item was not designed to be the centre of a home network solution and would be best suited to a small buisness setup enclosed in a 19" rack mount case. Overall it is a great item that is well built and will work well if you require a network with a reasonable amount of ethernet ports at 10/100mbps. It can be daisy chained to other NETGEAR devices if you require a bigger network solution. 8/10Read full review
This is now classed as old technology, however as the low price I paid for the item, its the perfect backup box in case of a problem with the 10/100/1000 covering all the computers in our office. It does also give the option of a small extention to our offices on computers that do not require high network speeds. Perfectly adequate for an uncomlplicated, low bandwidth network on a budget.
