I purchased this product for fun and to experiment this concept. Shure the idea of cleaning the floors by hand, and the waste of such valuable time was perhaps 2nd on the list, however doing research on this subject and talking my wife into the idea gave me the opportunity to waste a couple of hundred bucks. I did the math and read customer reviews from several manufacturers in order to reinforce my decision. The robot I chose is a used iRobot 4000 Cleaner that came with a dead battery for a reasonable price of less than $100.00 Due that I like to tinker with things, I purchased a new battery for less that $30.00 including shipping and rebuilt The battery the Roomba came with. Just as soon as the fresh battery charged, I supervised and cleaned half the wood floors in the house. The Roomba did stick in a couple of areas due to difference in rug heights, however the whole thing did the job on one charge and I am pleased of the purchase. One thing I could say is that, my dog did not seem to be too bothered with the noise, unlike what I read in reports so, I will keep using it on a weekly basis. In a short, I am pleased with the purchase, the machine does a good job picking up dog hairs and is user friendly.Read full review
It does a fantastic job cleaning those dog/cat hairs and I have now had three wore one out...also purchased two for my daughters but we all continue to use other cleaner(dyson)the negative is that the batteries don't have a long life period and the filters which you must change get to be expensive. Hope this helps those of you who are considering a purchase....start with the lower end models.
I wanted a Roomba ever since we bought a house with LOTS of carpet. I wanted to see how well it worked but didn't want to pay the big bucks for a new one. The seller didn't know much about it and didn't even try to say it worked but I was determined. The machine made much more noise than I thought it would. It did a good job at first but then it stopped picking up dirt after about two weeks. I contacted the seller to see if he had any suggestions and he was very nice about it. It's in the repair shop now. I told them that I didn't want to spend a lot of money on the repair so we'll see. I found out that it was the original model. Would I do it again? YES! You have to try or you won't know.
