  • Detailed study of wooden ship design and specifications with many ship examples

Anyone interested in the timber framemanship of wooden ships NEEDS this book as a reference, especially if you are a wooden model ship builder building 19th century ships of the line. Details on 17th century vessels like the extravagant royal war galleons are scant, but then again we know far less about those old ships with exception of the King's Ship Wasa. Lots of photos show the interior structures of extant ships as examples. and photos of models help you understand the structures on a larger scale. Many tables provide specifications, dimensions and placement of structural members and fittings on a variety of English vessels for comparison. Anyone who takes the study of wooden vessels seriously would benefit from this book.
