  • The "Strange" Musketeers

Being an avid watcher and collector of all things Musketeer movie/TV related, I just had to add this DVD to my collection. However, the creators of this particular version definitely took more than just casual liberties with the original Dumas work. The whole satanic involvement threw a different spin to the usual "country bumpkin goes to Paris to join the Musketeers, challenges the three to duels, falls for his landlord's wife, chases the jewels for the queen to London and back, and lives happily ever after". The sci-fi twists kept me entertained, even after the "usual" movie would have been over. With a run-time of 3 hours, its a good thing that I love the genre, or I would have given up earlier. Definitely NOT the best movie of the same title - that honor goes to the 1993 Disney version with Chris O'Donnell, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen, Oliver Platt, Tim Curry, Rebecca De Mornay, Gabrielle Anwar, etc., with the 1974 version in second place. Still, its a Musketeer movie and worthy of watching.

  • The worst yet.

This was the worst portrayal of that story ever. Talk about a low budget production. The casting director must have gone to a day labor hiring hall to fill the roles. The costumes look like they came from some second hand store.
