The Casualties latest effort was one of my pot luck choices from the fanzine “lucky dip” pile that I write for, I knew there would be no reason for me not to like this CD knowing my predisposition towards similar veteran bands such as The Exploited and GBH plus the artwork did catch my eye I must admit. Excellently produced by Side One Dummy, Under Attack is a good strong hardcore album all round and I’m very impressed from the opening title track which is spiked with energy and sets the pace from the first few bars to the very end of the CD. I can’t find a duff track despite spinning it many times and there are some magnificent infectious singalong anthems such as System Failed Us Again and Social Outcast which are pretty much self-explanatory and Without Warning, which speaks out on the effects of global warming. In It For Life, a song singing the praises of Woody Guthrie, Fallen Heroes which raises the middle finger to the current celebrity culture and V.I.P. also deserve a special mention as well. Although fairly short at just over 30 minutes in length, lead vocalist Jorge and Co. ought to be very proud of this album and up until now I’ve never really ventured into Casualties territory but I’m now glad that I did – I can’t stop listening to this CD.Read full review
