What can I say? The fantasticly sublime Dollar finally get a CD release of some of the finest 1980's pop songs ever made. The highlight for me is Videotheque, superbly co-written and produced by the genuis Trevor Horn, which to quote a good friend of mine was 'too ahead of its time' the mere fact this pop gem only reached number 17 astounds me even now! There are some quality pop moments on the CD, and much credit goes to Dean Murphy, Alan Connor and Sean Mallon for making this CD happen, something us Dollar fans have been praying for for years! Two hearts get a CD realease and its quirky pop at its best and the superb Second time around features, sounding even better than I remembered. The 'biggies' are there - Mirror Mirror, Give me back my heart and Hand held in black and white and this CD also includes some of the criminally ignored Paris Collection. To sum up, but this CD if you love pop music. This is pop at its finest!Read full review
I had the 4 singles they did for Warner Bros on vinyl a long time go, so imagine my pleasure at finding them on CD together, and as a "Brucie" they sound exactly as I remember them, with no "new vocals" placed over the top of the original backing tracks, shame they couldn't get the right to "Oh Lamour" but still a good album all the same
Wanted a particular song, 'Give me back my heart', a classic! No-one makes songs like this anymore, guess I'm a product of the 80's!
