Based on the first novel in Christopher PaoliniÆs popular INHERITANCE trilogy, ERAGON is a fantastical adventure in a vein similar to that of the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy and THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA. A classic story of a quest driven by destiny and set in a land where elves, magicians, and humans live side by side, the battle between good and evil, innocence and cynicism, is taken up once again. John Malkovitch camps it up as the evil King Galbatorix, a former guardian of peace who long ago went over to the dark side. He now rules over a land from which dragons have all but disappeared, until humble farm boy Eragon (newcomer Edward Speelers) happens upon a mysterious blue object that turns out to be a dragon egg. Eragon befriends the charming dragon cub, Saphira (voiced with aplomb by Rachel Weisz), and becomes her rider, designating him as the principal warrior in the fight against evil. Jeremy Irons steals the show as the wise and mysterious old man who becomes EragonÆs mentor, guiding him through the tasks of saving a princess (Sienna Guillory) battling an evil sorcerer (Robert Carlyle, TRAINSPOTTING), and fending off hordes of the hideous Urgals. All of this will strike the seasoned fantasy viewer as familiar territory, but the formula is given life by veterans Malkovitch and Irons, as well as the young Speelers. The film was shot mostly in Hungary, whose breathtaking landscape combines to great effect with excellent cinematography. The special effects, created by LORD OF THE RINGSÆ Digital Magic and STAR WARSÆ Industrial Light and Magic, more than live up to the precedent set by those films, while the dragon is filmÆs true star.

Eragon
I think the film is very good and wish they would make the rest of the trilogy but dnt think they will because eragon didnt make enough in the box office, very disapointing. The film is about a young boy who finds a a blue stone in the forest which turns out to be a dragon egg because of this he becomes the vada's (freedom fighters against the evil king Galbatorix) long awaited "dragon rider". Galbatorix is a dragon rider aswell the last of the older generation of riders, he began a war with the other dragon riders and wiped them all out in a bloody battle and now he doesnt want anyone else to have a dragon incase they over throw him and so uses all his power to find eragon and kill him. He enlists his shade (a demon infested magician) to try and track eragon down and kill him, in the search for eragon the shade summons demons to find him and they end up killing eragons uncle who had raised him from birth. Eragon then goes on a mission to find the vada and is helped on his journey by several people, the most noterary is 'brom' a dragon rider from the older generation but whos dragon is dead. Brom ends up dieing trying to protect eragon and saphira (eragons dragons name) eragon faces many challenges on the way to the vada bt overcomes them all. When he reaches the vada's hide out he discovers the kings men and the shade have followed him and prepares for battle. During the battle the shade summons a black demon dragon to try to defeat eragon and saphira and nearly suceeds as saphira is biten on the neck by the demon dragon which weakens her considerably and cannot fly for long, before crash landing she throws eragon at the shade and he successfully kills the shade by stabing him through the heart. After they crash land eragon uses magic to heal saphira but nearly kills himself in the process and passes out. Eragon DVD
Eragon is a great family fantasy adventure film. It has beautiful cinematography and a story that engages the veiwer. It is the ever popular reluctant hero story that compels us to feel for, and with the characters. A definite must see for young fantasy lovers.

Easy to read very good title
We love watching fantasy films and this one was excellant the dragon was very good and the acting was again very good we would like to see a follow up made lets hope this is not to far in coming
