This was for a friend and I think he really enjoyed it I don't dislike this product at all and I dunno it was just great :)
DVD has been with us for some time now, and most studios now make 'making of' featurettes as a matter of course, retain deleted and extended scenes for the DVD and contract the actors into providing an audio commentary. In short then, for a film made in 2006, well into the period when DVD was outselling VHS as a format, you'd think that a relatively major US release like this might offer some extra value for the home video market, but put this shiny disc in your DVD player and you get nothing - at least you do if you were unfortunate enough to buy the region 2 version - the region 1 US disc is packed with extras and does have commentaries, music videos, deleted scenes and featurettes. The question I want answering is why British and European viewers have been short-changed like this. I thought the days of US region 1 viewers getting better discs than us were long gone, but it appears not - UK fans of Justin Long and his "Accepted" movie have been shafted by Universal. It's no wonder it's selling in the shops for under a fiver these days. It's a great film. For the genre it represents it's actually quite intelligent and not nearly as crude and rude as many other 'High School College' movies. Justin Long is well cast in the lead, and the idea of setting up a fake college is inspired - even the name - the 'South Harman Institute of Technology' (initials - S.H.I.T.) is pretty funny and the concept is relatively well written. It's just a shame that the UK release of this disc is pretty shabby. If you have a multi-region player and you're thinking of buying a copy on eBay then make sure it's the decent region 1 edition with all the added extras. If you have to go region 2, then make sure you get it at the right price. It's a great fun movie, but without any extras at all, it is not worth more than a fiver. Save your money for the region 1 disc instead. And don't forget to write to Universal UK and tell them to stop shafting us international buyers with substandard discs!Read full review
