How I love this film, mainly because Alice (Jennifer Love Hewitt) is a lovely Bristol girl who is married to a lawyer and is fancied by his scottish legal partner. Surprisingly the lack of a Bristol accent anywhere in this film doesn't put me off, but it would have been a comedy classic if the two lawyers had been played by Justin Lee Collins and Alan Carr fighting over the affection of Vicky Pollard. However, Jennifer Love Hewitt (Ghost Whisperer) is very good and looks absolutely stunning as the mysterious Anonymous character. A fun love triangle with more than 3 points.
I bought this film because I like Dougray Scott and generally he is very watchable. This film didn't let me down. It was amusing and thoroughly enjoyable. The funniest moment has to be in the gym when Alice is working out and angrily telling her sister about her phone sex with her husband. Sam got himself into a love triangle: cheating on his wife with his mistress and then cheating on his mistress with his wife. I liked the way it was discovered. Alice must have been blind not to see Archie's feelings for her! All in all very pleasant way to spend one and half hours!
“I’ve just sent a Valentine to my best friend’s wife!” moans Archie (Dougray Scott), summarising the love triangle that emerges between himself, Jennifer Love Hewitt and her cheating hubby ( Jimi Mistry). Set in a dayglo London, this mirthless farce boasts just one decent joke (a porno called My Best Friend’s Spreading) and reveals truths no more profound than: all men are bastards; Karl Howman’s comedy career did peak with Brush Strokes; and a cameo from Stefan Dennis does not a rousing finale make.
