An educational and moving film
A deeply disturbing, but enlightening film. It explores the most serious moral issues concerning life, death and justice. Pierrepoint himself is clearly an ordinary man who, by his background and his own strange motivation, finds himself in the most horrible of jobs. Very moving and compulsive. Also an interesting study in mob mentality: the hero is lauded by everyone for hanging the Nazi criminals, but then in the fifties becomes an object of hate, as more compassionate views about capital punishment take hold.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
