Heading home from Canada to the uk - the car we were in had this in its DVD player. We watched a good 15 mins before we arrived at the airport. The four of us had enjoyed it so much we finally tracked down the DVD. It's subtitled but it does not detract from the film. If you love martial arts then you will surely like this. It's a tale of competitiveness coupled with revenge. We all enjoyed it.
this movie is a state of the art, personally I never saw Jet Li's acting like that,he was good, all movie is amazing, totally recommend this
Jet Li grows up to be a Wushu master who while endeavouring to restore the good name of his father's school, ends up killing a rival Master in a rage, which leads to the death of his family. He flees his home town in grief and thru the guidance of a blind girl is shown how to be a better man. With this knowledge he travels to Shanghai to help restore the good name of China, now under the heel of Western nations, by taking on and defeating their best fighters. If like me you enjoy martial arts movies and Jet Li, then this film is a treat in the same vein as his 'Once Upon A Time In China' films. Lots of great set pieces brillaintly choreographed as ever, but maybe the wire-work is a little too over-the-top and obvious. That being said, a beautifull shot film with much about it to like.
Chinese high quality scenes and audio completely outclasses some Hong Kong stuff. Cycles through most of the Wu-shu genre techniques. Violent drama but in an entertaining way and the skill and fitness of the actors is astonishing. Chinese, French and Spanish languages but only English sub-titles.
