This particular version of this film adds Documentaries,Trailers, and an Audio Commentary fom the director of the film. This latest installment to the series actually starts at the beginning(Hence the itle of the Film)and commences with Leatherface's birth in a slaughterhouse. The Uncut version(You can also see the Theatrical version on this DVD) is extremely gory, and although I like horror films I found this a little "Stomach churning"",which according to the commentary was fully intended. The story is similar to the other movies in that Teenagers on a holiday in Texas end up unwittingly being kidnapped after a road accident and taken by the bogus Sherriff(lee Ermey) back to the Hewitt house. You probably know the rest as the kids are subjected to torture, and untimately death at the hands of the Hewitt's. The Acting is very good, particually Ermey also appeared in the last Movie, and the kids themselves, who according to the Commentary were subjected to numerous injuries during the course of filming. I found the Theatrical version easier to watch because its shorter, and not so violent, and it is interesting to know where Hewitt(Leatherface) came from in th first place. The audio commentary also stated that there would almost definately be another sequel pretty soon, which could be one too many as the idea is now getting a little tired.Read full review
Prequel to the horror franchise. It is 1969 and the war in Vietnam is raging. Two young men, Dean (Taylor Handley) and Eric (Matt Bomer) are spending a last weekend with their girlfriends before being shipped overseas to the war. While on the road they get into an accident that calls the local sheriff (R. Lee Ermey) to the scene. But what the young friends don't know is that the 'sheriff' is really the psychopathic uncle of Thomas Hewitt - a deformed, demented killer who will become known as Leatherface...
