Based on a real person. However not exactly. An interesting story. I like Nicole Kidman when she plays real people. Perhaps my favourite film of hers is Queen of the Dessert.

I liked the look of the cast and enjoyed the film .........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Well this film is quite a strange affair, a portrait of Diane Arbus who i know little of, but here is portrayed by Nicole Kidman..she seems to be in a dream like state for a lot of this film but still manages to convey her feelings for Robert Downey Jr..a very hairy fella. Its one of those films that i wanted to watch again..mostly down to the feel of the film which is like a surreal mainstream film if that is possible. I thought that Nicole and Robert Downey were great at inhabiting there characters..i was quite moved at the ending and watching Nicole Kidman walk into a field naked is very nice thankyou.Give a look its a grower.
I am a very keen Arbus fan, and I dont believe for one minute that she was anything like the person in this film. The story although 'imaginary' was completely historically inaccurate. The plot summises that Arbus has a bit of a fetish for "Freaks" this, in my opinion, is totally wrong and a complete misinterpretation of Arbus's genius. Nicole Kidman is completely miscast as Arbus. Dont bother watching it unless you just want to see how bad this film is!
From a photographers point of view this film gives you a wonderful insight into Diane Arbus. the story is lovly.
