The two disc set is new and factory sealed. The case under the seal has no cracks or damage. The paper sleeve under the seal has no creasing or wear.     Hilarity and pathos shine through Trollope's story.

    Has that special quality of both sympathy and humour. Can be very very funny but also extremely moving. The introductory music has a lot to do with that and the beautiful opening scenes of the cathedral and its nostalgic surroundings with the early railways, which gives you a sense of peering back into an earlier time which comes alive. Alan Rickman's performance is just too too comic because he thinks so much of himself, and Geraldine McEwan is riveting as a fanatically inappropriate reformer who would so much rather be the Bishop than her husband. I love it when she tells Mrs Quiverful to stop crying immediately and she will sort matters out, and when Mrs Quiverful ruefully pulls straw out of her shawl after taking a ride on the farmer's cart on her way to the Bishop's palace. However there is no doubt that Donald Pleasance is the star, giving a performance that balances fun and true spirituality without any hint of mawkishness. Ten out of ten for a DVD that will find a permanent place on my shelf.
