Great film. Very moving and interesting. Not very well known film with a great cast. Can take a little while to get into the plot, but totally worth it! Great price, used Dvd arrived in good time and really good condition.

I am an avid watcher of 'Political History' films and have aquired a large collection over the years which include amongst them the more well known 'J.F.K.', '13 DAYS', 'All the Presidents Men', 'Nixon', so I did wonder if another film about American political history could compete. I needn't have worried though, Emilio Estevez has written and directed a masterpiece. He has approached the tragic assassination of Bobby Kennedy from a totally different angle. Focusing on 5th. June and on the ordinary people whose lives and cultural issues intersected these final hours of 'Bobby',in whose hands they placed their hopes and dreams of a fairer and more just society! Informative, atmospheric, and an excellent reflection of the time in which it was set. '5'star entertainment and a joy to watch!
This movie will not appeal to people who like action in their movies. It is nearly all talk for an hour and a half between characters staying or working at the hotel on the day when Bobby Kennedy was assassinated there in 1967. TV footage of the assassination is then woven into the movie, and the aftermath and effect the assassination has on the hotel characters is shown. The hotel characters are based on people who were actually there at the time. A worthy movie which I enjoyed, but it won't appeal to everybody.
All star cast about the lives of people in the hotel Bobby Kennedy was shot in, tense drama style and some very funny scenes well shot and told with a serious undertale to the story and the lives it affected,Anthoney Hoppkins delivers another star performance as we come to expect from him
This film, which received a standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival, captures the hotel atmosphere well and shows how different types of people regarded each other at that time - their hopes, invested in one man, Bobby Kennedy, younger brother to John & Teddy Kennedy. Especially I like the hyperreality - how actors are spliced with real footage to create a more complete guide to the times. The back of Bobby's head is played in some scenes by an unknown actor, but all views of Bobby's face are genuine archive footage of the man himself.
FANTASTIC MOVIE. ORIGINAL CLIPS OF THE BOBBY KENNEDY CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT BUT THE STORY REVOLVES AROUND 12 PEOPLE WHO ARE PRESENT IN THE HOTEL WHEN HE WAS ASSASINATED AND HOW THERE LIVES ARE AFFECTED.
You don’t corral a star-stacked cast like Bobby’s without having more money than Bill Gates, possessing a mind-blowing script or being seriously liked. In Emilio Estevez’s case, it’s definitely the latter as the likes of Anthony Hopkins, Sharon Stone and Lindsay Lohan pay tribute to him in the misty-eyed Making Of. The former Brat Packer seemed poised for a stunning comeback with his timely, Altmanesque tapestry about a day in the life of LA’s Ambassador Hotel, where Robert Kennedy was murdered. Unfortunately, the grand vision isn’t matched by Estevez’s writing or directing talents. Some of Bobby’s strands (Freddy Rodriguez’s busboy raging against the machine) are solidly executed, while others (Helen Hunt fretting over shoes) are more bonfire of the banalities. But whenever the film’s titular supernova shows up in archive footage, it sends a chills down the spine and leaves you wondering, like Estevez, What if...?Read full review
Excellent film bought it because i remember well the death of Bobby Kennedy , and it has an excellent cast too .Would definitely recommend , well acted and attention holding.
Bobby is an ambitious ensemble piece set in the Ambassador Hotel where Robert Kennedy was shot. As it leads up to the momentous event, it encapsulates the socio-political landscape of the time through multiple subplots and stories of a philandering hotel manager, the Mexican kitchen workers, a boozy show biz singer, a Viet-Nam war dodger, etc. The almost two dozen characters are played by a host of famous names including Anthony Hopkins, Helen Hunt, Sharon Stone, Demi Moore, Charlie Sheen, Elijah Wood, Laurence Fishburne and so on. The sprawling nature of the multiple story-lines means the film can seem a little sluggish and disconnected sometimes, but while the film maybe doesn't quite come off fully, it certainly does have an undeniable final impact. Bobby Kennedy actually only appears in glimpses from behind or news footage, but it is very striking how articulate he was and, even accounting for the selective choices of newsreel, how much his appeal went beyond normal ethnic and social divisions.Read full review
I loved this film as it had some of my favourite actors in it. Great acting from Sharon Stone and Anthony Hopkins. The film takes place in the Hotel, but manages to keep you interested in the individuals lives and trials and tribulations unrelated to the climax of the film. Use of actual footage was fabulous. Well worth a look.
