rather late, but never got to watch when it was released. Life in Manchester with some coarse, engaging characters. How life wouldn't be lived, but often is

I am still going to give this series an Excellent rating as its Shameless and therefore very very good but after truly loving the first Three Series of this I feel its lost some of its appeal now key characters have left the show. In series 4 Kev & Veronica have gone after being arrested for buying a baby abroad (yep typical shameless storyline) and Marty disappears quickly too. Tony the policeman left last series as did Fiona (another key figure). Monica comes back into it as Frank's wife and Norma (Shrek) as Monica's jilted lover moves into the camper van. The Maguires take over Kev and Veronica's house which gives them more of a part but it seems that their gangster exteria is softening a bit too. Also part the way through the series Shiela leaves too and for me thats just too many good characters gone. I still love the show and times have to change but to loose so many strong and very funny characters is a bit of a shame (maybe the producers don't pay well !) The storyline on occasions gets a little bit more of a drama than a comedy. All that said - its still one of the best programs ever made so its a must for your DVD collection if you have the first three seriesRead full review
I'm not a big telly person but the kids bought me series 1 box set and i watched to humour them. From that moment i was hooked. I have bought every series and usually have to not watch the latest series on tv because i'm plouging through the latest box set. This Xmas the kids got me series 4 and series 5 was due to start new year. I am that impressed and dedicated to watching, i sat over 2 days and watched the whole of series 4. You really do LAUGH OUT LOUD, each series isn't any less funny and if a character leaves you can guarantee a new funnier one will join. I'm watching series 5 on the telly but will still buy the box set. It's the type of base humour that you can watch when feeling a bit down and even if you have seen it before, you will laugh and enjoy. It's the English equivalent to Friends only more realistic, that's what makes it funny. We all know people with bits of the Gallagher. This is the only programme that keeps me sat on the sofa and unplugging the phone. If you buy the box sets, watch from series 1, you won't be disappointed, every series is as good as the lastRead full review
